01 · TARGET DAY
Each morning starts with upper-air soundings, surface observations, and high-resolution convective models. Over breakfast we walk through the target area, moisture return, and dryline or boundary placement before rolling out to get in position ahead of initiation.
02 · THE INTERCEPT
When cumulus towers breach the cap and go severe, live dual-pol radar and road-network options dictate every turn. We stay in clean inflow air with clear sightlines to the base and clear escape routes south and east, giving you time to set tripods and watch the storm cycle.
03 · GOLDEN HOUR
Late afternoon into twilight is often when low-level shear peaks and Plains supercells put on their best structure shows. After the storms weaken or grow upscale, the crew grabs dinner at a local steakhouse or diner to review radar loops and compare shots from the day.
04 · DOWN DAYS & NIGHT SKIES
Not every day has a tornado setup. When a ridge caps the Plains, we use the time to reposition for the next trough, shoot nocturnal lightning or Bortle 1 dark-sky astrophotography, and explore backroad history across the High Plains and Badlands.
Every window runs with a dedicated lead crew and a full-time support vehicle so field safety and guest logistics never compete with storm positioning.
Veteran Plains storm chaser at the wheel. Manages road positioning, escape routes, and visual storm assessment while keeping the vehicle in safe, photogenic inflow sectors.
Runs continuous dual-pol velocity, reflectivity, and mesoanalysis from the right seat. Calls out road grids, hail cores, and boundary interactions while serving as relief driver on long repositions.
A second vehicle shadows every tour for mechanical redundancy, extra camera gear, and airport runs. If a guest has an early flight out, the primary chase vehicle never has to abandon a setup.
Rather than locking you into a fixed starting city months in advance, we coordinate your arrival and departure hub around medium-range pattern forecasts and handle terminal pickup and drop-off via our support vehicle.

From your official Tour Start Date through the end of your chase window, we cover your nightly private hotel room, all chase-day transportation and fuel, airport pickup and drop-off via our support vehicle, daily forecast briefings, a digital photo/video highlight package, and Tornado Pursuit gear. If you fly in early before your window starts (for example, arriving in Omaha 3 days ahead of Day 1) or stay extra nights after the chase wraps, those pre- and post-tour hotel nights are at your own expense, along with flights, daily meals, and mandatory travel insurance.
Because severe weather patterns shift across the Plains, we coordinate staging around major regional hubs including Oklahoma City (OKC), Wichita (ICT), Kansas City (MCI), Omaha (OMA), and Denver (DEN) for US windows, and Regina (YQR) or Winnipeg (YWG) for July Canadian Prairies windows. As your window approaches, we align on the best arrival hub based on medium-range forecasts, and our dedicated support vehicle handles terminal pickup and departure drop-off so the primary chase vehicle never has to leave a setup early.
Each window spans 7 total days: Day 1 is your arrival and evening orientation briefing, followed by 5 full active chase days on the road, plus a final buffer night before departure. Every morning begins with upper-air soundings, surface observations, and high-resolution convective models (HRRR, NAM, and SPC mesoanalysis) to pinpoint moisture boundaries and wind shear. Once storms initiate, we run a two-person cockpit—a dedicated Lead Chaser driving and a Radar Navigator running continuous dual-pol velocity and reflectivity—backed by a second support vehicle. We position in clean inflow air with paved escape routes south and east and never punch blind rain-wrapped cores.
No legitimate operator can guarantee a tornado. Our windows are timed to the statistical peak of the US Plains (May–June) and Canadian Prairies (July) seasons, and we chase the best setup within range every day—whether that produces a tornado, a sculpted mothership supercell, giant hail, or intense Plains lightning. On high-pressure cap days when storms don't fire, we reposition for the next trough, shoot dark-sky astrophotography, and explore regional stops along the way.
Active chase days typically involve 6 to 10 hours of driving with regular stops for fuel, food, and staging as we track setups across state lines. Because we cap groups at 4 to 6 guests and run a two-vehicle convoy, everyone gets a window seat, plenty of room for cameras, lenses, and tripods, and in-vehicle power to keep batteries charged all day.
By July, the jet stream migrates north and the US Southern Plains often lock into a summer heat ridge, while Saskatchewan and Manitoba enter their statistical peak for tornadoes and isolated, long-lived supercells over wide-open prairie roads. You will need a valid passport for cross-border travel and flights into Regina (YQR) or Winnipeg (YWG).
A non-refundable deposit holds your spot in a window, with the remaining balance split between 90 days and 30 days prior to departure. Cancellations 90+ days before your tour receive a full refund of payments made minus the deposit. Because severe weather expeditions involve fixed operational commitments, travel insurance is mandatory for all guests (we strongly recommend a Cancel For Any Reason policy).
